How to access our services

The main way in which you will come to visit us in the department is by referral by either your dentist (GDP) or your family doctor (GMP).

A referral is a letter your dentist or doctor sends to our department asking us to see you either to provide advice or treatment.

Your dentist or doctor will refer you if it is appropriate.

In most circumstances your dentist or doctor will be able to deal effectively with your concerns. If you are referred to us it is because your dentist or doctor requires specialist advice.

When you first arrive you will be seen by a member of clinical staff a Consultant is usually available, though you may be seen by a Staff Grade Surgeon or an SHO.
